Tasmania’s premier Enduro racing series is back for more. The planning process started back in June, and we’re well underway. As is the case every year, we want to make our events the best they can be. So this season we’re making a few refinements to our systems and race weekends.
This means more focus on our core events, whilst retaining race format options and categories to suit all levels of riders. Whether your in it for some fun, or looking to put yourself up against the best, we’ll have just the right event for you and the crew.
Pull your calendars out and schedule in the dates. We’re in the process of securing the relevant permissions with land managers, and venue locations will drop very soon.
Our first race of the season will be our annual TasGrav Tune-Up at St Helens. This is your chance to shake out some cobwebs, and it’s a great excuse to head over to the East Coast. Entries for this event are open now!
Keep an eye on the socials for updates. We’ll be dropping all rounds, and full series info very soon.
See you on the trails! Doug, Mark & Brendan
Fast racing, big fun, and a lineup of formats built for everyone. Whether you’re lining up for your very first race or looking to test your limits against a seasoned pack, we’ve got a race format and category just for you.
3 HOURS / 3 STAGES / UNLIMITED RUNS
This is racing, but with an extra dose of fun.
Less pedalling, more descending.
ENDURO RACING, THE WAY WE LOVE IT
Enduro racing the way it was designed.
All the pain, all the glory.
Enduro mountain bike racing is a format that combines timed downhill stages with untimed uphill or cross-country style transfer stages, known as ‘liaisons’. Riders race against the clock on the downhill sections, and the fastest cumulative time across all timed stages wins the race.
Our ‘series events’ strecth across two year, so for the majority of our races, your age group category is determined by your age as at December 31st, 2028. This is as per AusCycling regulations and lines our age categories up with most races and championships held on the ‘big island’.
The exception to this is our Tune-Up event in September and our DerbyFest event in October. For these races your age group category is determined by your age as at 31st December, 2026.
If you’re a first time racer chasing the full Enduro experience, and have some decent experience riding mountain bikes, we recommend the ‘Sport Event’ races. If you are new to bikes or just after a bit of fun with less focus on the Enduro format, we recommend have a go at our ‘Re-Run Races.
Enduro racing requires a good all-round mountain bike that is well set-up for you, and capable of the terrain or category you are tackling. It doesn’t need to be the latest race weapon, but we do strongly suggest a dual suspension bike with good brakes and a dropper post. Wheels are typically 27.5 or 29-inch, and 140-170mm travel is ideal.
Not quite sure if your bike is right. Head in to your local mountain bike shop and see what they think, they are a wealth of advice and as passionate about the sport as we are.
Typical Enduro races are designed to reflect a regular day on the bike, and most will include a decent amount of untimed uphill. But if this is you, check out the ‘Re-Run’ race format. These races have been designed for riders that prefer the ‘going-down’ to ‘going-up’. This is still proper racing, but just a whole lot more fun!
Yes you certainly can, and we do our best to design courses so that you can both race in different categories. However, if you are not racing and wish to chaperone, check in with the rego desk when your rider signs up and let us know. We do recommend that you have AusCycling insurance and you will have to pay for your own shuttles if applicable.
